Sexual Harrassment charges foils A Nobel Laureate

Derek Walcot, O.B.E.,K.C.S.L (1930-2017) was  a St. Lucian born poet and playwright.  He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992.

He missed out on being a Don because of the sexual harrasment charges which had been levied against him in 1981 and 1996.

His failure to get the position of Oxford Professor of Poetry in 2009 was a controversy, not so much because of his alleged deeds but because of the media, personality, and gender huff.

He could rise no higher.

Which goes to show that sometimes the issue is really not the issue.
